Tambit for Gyming Tambi & Tangachi

Nagapanchami a popular festival celebrated across India on the fifth day of Sravan month as per the Lunar calendar. This festival has its links to several Puranas and folk tales. Historically this festival was celebrated to safeguard family specially men in the family who worked in agricultural fields and travelled in jungles for food and fodder and protect them from snake bite and snakes. Hence snakes were worshipped by women members in the family and few special foods were offered to please snakes and calm the creatures.
